Cinephile Film Arts is an non-profit arts organization based in Bloomington, Indiana that works to encourage the production of film and video projects in our state. CFA began in 2003 with a group of people who met weekly to discuss filmmaking and work collaboratively. Today, CFA sponsors a variety of programs to support indie filmmaking, including workshops, grants, and an annual film festival.
CFA also operates as an Indiana University student group, and offers internship positions for operational and programming duties. Our volunteers include students and community members from a variety of backgrounds including film and media studies, graphic design, and film and video production. We are seeking board members who are committed to creative community devolpment, media literacy intiatives, and support of film and video arts.
CFA meets twice a month at the Cinemat Screening Room in Bloomington, IN on the corner of 4th and Walnut. (See our calendar for current meeting days and times.)
ABOUT THE FILM FESTIVAL
In the fall of 2005, Cinephile offered the First Annual Cinephile Film Grants to five filmmakers. On December 10th, 2005, these five films and 5 others were screened to an audience of over 200 at the Buskirk-Chumley Theatre at the First Annual Cinephile Film Fesival. The second annual festival was even bigger, with submissions from all over the state of Indiana, and a special presentation by guest speaker and indie filmmaker Gary Wood. The overwhelming community response to this event encouraged us to continue to grow the organization and improve our programs.
Current programs include:
• The 3rd Annual Cinephile Film Grant Program
• The 3rd Annual Cinephile Film Festival in 2008
• Workshops and Seminars for Film and Video Production
• Low or no-cost equipment rentals to Cinephile volunteers
